orientation and reality are too different things

      Jan 25, 2010

i remember when i went to orientation with swift. they said most wife's think they are going to just sit in the passenger seat and knit, read, and play on the computer. they told us (there were only 2 women in orientation) that if that is what we were expecting we were in for a big surprise. this is a working business........this is not a vacation.....

well its been 6 months since i started driving and i have crocheted 2 poncho's for my granddaughters, knitted 1 prayer shawl for my mother, and i just started a cross stitch project.

the list of books ive read is longer than books i have read in the past 3 years; 'confessions of an ugly step sister' ,'son of a witch' (i was lucky enough to have my sister take me to the play 'wicked' so i didnt read that book) 'have a little faith','the shack'(makes me cry every time), 'the gospel according to biff', 'the stupidest angel'( the stupidest angel was so funny i will certainly read that one again) 'the monster of florance', 'how the irish saved civilization',    'the autobiography of the dalai lama' , ' miracle of fatima','Dante's inferno'(read it before , still hard to read, probably have to read it again.) ' the lost symbol' , 'i trusted you' ann rule crime book.  currently reading ' dies the fire'. (not sure i like this one yet.)  any good suggestions ?????

i have caught up on some movies. watched 'the sopranos' umpteen times (enough is enough) 'the tudors' to many westerns to even mention (mostly because it was just back ground noise for me) 'the lost room' (great si-fi  could watch that one again and again) 'the sons of anarchy' 'pirates of the caribbean 1,2,3'

since this is a working business  i would really like to see the business end.
we are getting just over what a solo driver gets. we want 4500 to 5000 miles a week. we only got  good miles 3 weeks so far. the rest of the weeks have been 3500 to maybe 4000 miles.

we are out of hours and just sitting here in lathrop. the lathrop terminal is a good place to sit because there are business' you can walk to, and they have plenty of delivery food options.  plus the hot water works in the shower. there is no hot water in kent.   but coffee is free in kent.  we are also getting laundry done.

we have our preplan for fedex from fresno to kent.  as usual north bound is set. but we are anticipating stress at the other end. it never ceases to amaze me why south bound loads are so slow to come.  but i guess i should really look at it as everyday is a new chance for the south bound load to work smoothly. (i know, i'm laughing too)

i love and miss you all
